AFFORDABILITY
Following a number of years practicing law together, three attorneys decided they had the skill, knowledge, and experience to start their own firm. In 2010, Juliet N. Brennan, Rusty Smith, and Martha J. Cherbini acquired office space in the historic Payton Building in Downtown Muskogee and formed Brennan, Smith & Cherbini, PLLC.
Just a few years later, the growing clientele and increasing complexity of legal issues coming before them convinced them that the law firm would need to grow as well. They hired Alex C. Wilson as an associate attorney in 2013. The additional help ensured their ability to efficiently address their client's issues, no matter how complex.
In 2015, Martha J. Cherbini retired from the practice of law. While her knowledge was invaluable, she had managed to share much of it with her partners and associate. They continued expanding their practice until it transformed into the successful law firm that it is today.
The law firm of Brennan, Smith & Cherbini, PLLC, has called the historic Payton Building in Downtown Muskogee home for the last six years. The office is located at 417 West Broadway and is only a block away from the Muskogee County District Courthouse as well as the Muskogee County Services building.
Beautifully redone by attorney Lloyd Payton in the 1980s, the building is architecturally fascinating and has received a number of awards for its design, woodwork, and utility. The first level includes two secretarial areas, multiple supply rooms, a large waiting area, two private offices, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a beautifully crafted conference room.
In the center of the first level is a magnificent atrium centered above a semi-spiral staircase leading up to the second level, which has two large private offices. One of the offices has a concrete reinforced balcony overlooking Broadway Street. A long hallway off the side of the second level provides access to a large file storage closet and a third level full apartment, complete with a kitchen, full bath, and balcony overlooking the Okmulgee Street and the Muskogee Civic Center.
Our attorneys and staff share a commitment to the Muskogee community. They have regularly contributed their time, talent, and resources to various charity organizations, civic organizations, and their respective churches.
We take pride in our community involvement and are happy to receive requests for sponsorships or services. Since many of these decisions are made early on after thorough discussion, we cannot always guarantee that every organization or individual seeking assistance will receive it. We encourage you or your organization to still try, however, because even if we cannot address an important issue within our community, perhaps we can find someone who can.
While no two legal issues are ever the same, we know our clients are always concerned about the costs involved with hiring an attorney. We encourage you to not let this be a deterrent, however. When you inquire with us about a legal issue you are facing, we are typically able to tell you whether it would qualify for a contingency contract (no fee unless you recover), a retainer fee (billed at an hourly rate), or a flat fee.
If your legal issue doesn't easily fit into one of these categories, rest assured that we will regularly communicate with you during the course of pursuing your case to let you know what to expect in terms of attorney fees. By doing so, you can provide us with direction on how you want to proceed. Remember, we are here to work for YOU!
